Scientists of Amur State University perform world-class fundamental research

News and events

The scientific laboratory, led by Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor of the AmSU Department of physics Vitaliy Neshchimenko, performs world-class research. In 2020, the scientific group of Vitaliy Vladimirovich conducted a study of radiation effects and radiation defects in nanostructured materials under the influence of cosmic radiation.

Radiation effects in micro - and nanopowders Al2O3, CeO2, TiO2, Y2O3, ZrO2, and ZnO under the influence of protons with energy of 100 keV have been studied for the first time in the world. During scientific work, it is proved that in the nanoscale state, the particles have greater radio resistance. This effect is determined by the developed surface of the nanoparticles, which is actually a drain of electronic excitations.

The results of research can be used in the space industry for the development, manufacture and operation of space rocket technology in the field of radiation protective coating of spacecraft.

The results of the research are published in the scientific article "Analysis of the degradation of optical properties of micro- and nanopowders under the influence of protons with energy of 100 keV" in the journal "Surface and Coatings Technology," indexed by the Web of Science database., quartile 1 (DOI: 10.1016/j.surfcoat.2020.125620, IF=3.8, Q1, WOS).
