On March 1-2, the "ETHNOSPHERE" International Youth Festival was held at the Sholom Aleichem Amur State University in the city of Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Oblast. The Festival took place as part of the "Priority 2030" strategic academic leadership program.
Four universities of the People's Republic of China and eight universities from seven constituent entities of the Far Eastern Federal District participated in the Festival. The participants came from all over Russia and China: Birobidzhan, Khabarovsk, Magadan, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Blagoveshchensk, Ulan-Ude, Yakutsk, Heihe, Hegang, Changchun, Harbin. More than 150 people took part in the event in total.
The Amur State University was represented at the festival by participants of the ARTMOD Student Fashion Theater of the Faculty of Design and Technology: Sofia Madenova (group 986-fs), Ekaterina Kharina (group 286-fs), Polina Mulina (group 986-fs), Polina Minich (group 282-ob), Natalia Davydova (group 289-fb), Elizaveta Palaeva (084-fb). The head of the team is Svetlana Sanatova, the Assistant Professor of the AmSU Chair of Design.
The purpose of the "ETHNOSPHERE" Fest is to unite ethnic groups and introduce them to the national traditions and culture of indigenous peoples and displaced persons living in the regions. The excursion program with visiting the Synagogue allowed all participants to get acquainted with the unique history of Birobidzhan, as well as learn about the Jewish culture and traditions.
The Multinational Arbat held in the Regional Philharmonic Hall was the main point of attraction for national cultures. Dolls-talismans, folk jewelry, national board games and various kinds of workshops with dancing and fun were only a small part of the entertainment for the city residents offered by the Multinational Arbat of the "ETHNOSPHERE" Youth International Festival. At this event, the AmSU students represented Slavic culture in costumes from the "Shores" collection by Svetlana Sanatova, made in the Russian style. They played round dances, taught how to weave amulets and jumped over the "bonfire".
"Our students were at the heart of events during the Arbat. The final concert has passed with bated breath. The audience could not take their eyes off the stage, applauded and shouted "Bravo!", took videos on their mobile phones, because each performance was unique. I would like to emphasize the excellent organization of the event and the warm welcome given to all participants. A well-coordinated team of volunteers has always been there to solve our problems. Each delegation brought its own unique cultural component to the Festival. The facilitators are convinced that together we have written a new cultural code based on love both within a large country and between the countries," said Svetlana Sanatova, the Assistant Professor of the AmSU Department of Design.
