Two shores — one story: the second day of the International Scientific Conference "Archeology and Ethnography of the Far Eastern Frontier"

On July 8, the international scientific conference "Archeology and Ethnography of the Far Eastern Frontier" dedicated to the anniversary of Academician Anatoly Derevyanko continued its work.

A round table discussion on "Current Problems of Archeology and Ethnography of the left and right banks of the Amur River in the context of Russian-Chinese Scientific Cooperation" was held during the conference. The round table discussion was coordinated by Nikolay Kradin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Far Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Historical Society.

Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, addressed Academician Derevyanko, anniversary celebrant, and the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech. He noted that any science is a school, so the Ministry is taking systematic measures aimed at attracting young scientists to science and supporting scientific schools and leaders.

Konstantin Mogilevsky said: "By definition, there cannot be a lot of such leaders. And there are no such people as Anatoly Panteleevich Derevyanko at all.”

The Deputy Minister noted the importance of studying regional history and thanked everyone who is engaged in regional historical research in the Amur region and in the Far East as a whole. Specifically, Konstantin Mogilevsky focused on close scientific cooperation with China and stressed the need for its expansion.

The conference continued its work in the sections "Archeology of the Amur Region" and "Ethnography of the Amur Region".

Andrey Zabiyako, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, the Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of Frontier Studies of Amur State University, outlined the keynote of this day of the conference: two shores — one story.

Andrey Zabiyako emphasized: "Amur river gives us a vivid example when the river has two banks, but the peoples who live there have one story".

The leaders of the section "Archeology of the Amur Region" were Nikolay Drozdov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Oleg Shelomikhin, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor.

The work of the section "Ethnography of the Amur Region" was coordinated by Olga Pelevina, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Marina Khaimurzina, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies, Leading Researcher at the Laboratory of Frontier Studies of Amur State University.
